Closing Out 2016

The year has come to a close, making this the perfect time to sit down and take a look at how the year went.

I wanted to look back over the last 12 months to see where I would rate my productivity as we are closing out 2016.

There were a few things I could look at to measure whether the past year was a success.

No, I am not referring to any six figure paychecks or mega-book deal. Those measuring sticks will come in time.

For now I am content with looking at smaller ones.

I did find some success with my short story “Hunger” being accept by Sirens Publications. I also some decent progress with a few contests I entered.

There was some significant progress with the Steampunk Novella I am working on. At this pace it will be ready for submission in 2017.

Another area to measure is to checkĀ  back on my 2016 Goals.

This past year was a success, from the reading challenge to the idea walks. I even did a respectable job of taking a step back by focusing my time more efficiently.

One area which I did not fulfill my goal was branching out. I did try some new writing styles but did not venture too much out of my comfort zone.

Overall, I would say I was successful but as with everything, there is room for improvement.

I am looking forward to fixing this in 2017 and being even more productive.
